Sacred Dance of the Orixas: Lecture and Demonstration

This lecture and demonstration led by Leah Weiss, daughter of Oxum and head of EGAP (the Escola Guaracyana das Artes Populares) will introduce the movements of the Orixas of Fire, Earth, Water and Air.

In human history, the dance was expressed in the most profound moments of life. In moments such as rites of passage, fortification of the tribe, protection, celebration and primarily to commune with divine nature. Sacred Dance is a communication with the light in a language that unifies the body, soul and mind. It is a human search between the physical and spiritual worlds.

Music will be provided by drummers of TGW initiated in the Afro Brazilian tradition of Umbanda.
